I am a leader in Northern Michigan. I have a success story to share with First Place and all it's members.

Where we live it is cold and snowy for nearly 5 or 6 months a year. Our church where we meet is outside of town and up a curved and hilly drive. Last year we had a snowstorm almost every Friday night in December. Since most members live at least 10-15 miles PAST the church, some farther, it can be a tricky drive to meet at 8:00 am. on Saturday mornings.

Keeping this in mind, last Friday evening it was storming(rain, thunder, lightening, and heavy snow) for most of the evening. They were predicting 6-9 inches by morning. I live the closest to church and in town, and I had to decide if we should meet or not. You would think that was a no brainer, but it wasn't. I decided not to risk it. Here is the evidence of success to the First Place program and the undying commitment to attendance. When I made the calls to cancel, most members were very, very disappointed to have to miss class, myself included. Everyone was sad and we even tried to come up with an alternate plan. The fact was it was way too nasty out and we wanted everyone to be safe. So we cancelled. All weekend long I felt incomplete, as did others I talked with later. I have decided to extend our meeting time this Saturday to make sure we can discuss last weeks lesson as we are on the 2nd week in Start Living.

Praise God for First Place and all it means to those who are members. Thank you Carole Lewis and all your staff for doing the Lord's work.
