Hi
I could use some help. I have trouble keeping everyone on track during our meetings. I am not a pushy person and hate to interrupt anyone when they are talking. How can I get us back on track without being rude ??
Also how can I lead my group if I am having trouble keeping the commitments myself. ?? Can anyone share on this ??
Thanks
Shirley

Shirley, First of all, give yourself a break! No one is perfect and no one expects you to be perfect. We all have trouble keeping all the commitments or at least I haven't met anyone who doesn't. The best thing you can do is be honest with your group about your own struggles. Have you read "ack on Track"by Carole Lewis. She chronicles her first Triple Dare Challenge and she is extremely open and honest about the struggles she encountered on the way. She is the National Director and she shares the same struggles we all have. I have no problem with keeping any of the commitments, I just find it hard to keep all of them in the same day.
So far as keeping your group on track why don't you hand out an itenerary of what amount of time you have scheduled for each component of the meeting.. Fifteen minutes for weigh -in, 15 - 20 minutes for Wellness Spotlight, etc. We have found that it is best for us to pass around a sheet of paper for our prayer requests to be written on and it is copied before our meeting is over. Before that our prayer request time was causing us to run over 10-20 minutes at each meeting.
How long have you been leading your group? I hope this helps you. I will be praying for you.
Joyfully Serving Him,
Terri

Hi Debbie:
I am new to First Place myself in the last few months, but I just wanted to encourage you to keep pressing on. Remember that the Live-It Plan is a lifestyle change and not a "diet". Try to wipe that word "diet" from your dictionary forever! You are not perfect and you will get off track from time to time...we all do, but don't give up. The eating habits that you have developed over the years will not change overnight and make take a long time. Just make one small change at a time. The next time you get "off track" quote yourself the verses that we are learning in First Place - 1 Cor 10:13 and remember that God has promised that He will provide you with an escape for that temptation. Better yet - write the verses on recipe cards and stick them all over your house!
Sometimes when I get off track it's so tempting to just throw in the towel and forget the whole thing...then I remember that satan does not want me to be successful and that misery loves company! He wants me to fail!!! But the good news is that God has great plans for us and He created us with those plans in mind. He also knew that we would struggle with these temptations all the way back to when He created us!
I would like to offer the following prayer for you: Dear Lord, please be with Debbie as she struggles with falling off track with her eating habits. Help her to claim the promises from your word that You love her so much that You care that she has a healthy body with which to serve You as best she can. Bring people into her life that will be an encouragement to her and help uplift her when she falls. Thank you for loving her and dying on the cross for her. Thank you for her willingness to reach out to others for help in her time of need. In Christ's name, Amen.
Take care Debbie and I will be praying for you. Please feel free to email me and let me know how you're doing.
