Do a search online by your ZIP CODE( http://firstplace.org/search.php ), call the Houston First Place Office at (800) 727-5223 or (713) 688-6788 and if you are unable to find a local group prayerfully consider joining Outlook Ministry, First Place Online Support Groups.
My name in Karen Rhodus and I am the Founder of this wonderful God-Given ministry. We have been online since 2001 and now start new groups on the first Monday each month.
It's simple, you do everything a local member does but for the accountably and support you send your weight and cr to your online Outlook Small Group Leader(s).

We offers specialty groups for member needing to lose more than 101 pounds and a FOCUS Group for members that prefer more accountably. We also are beginning a Men's Group. The Men's Group will begin November 6th with a full launch in January/February 2007.

What are Outlook Groups? "Outlook participants are encouraged to follow the nine commitments of First Place, a national Christian nutrition program, and are assigned to small online groups of 10 to 20 members. Within each group, participants interact and draw encouragement from 2 to 4 co-leaders and from each other through email or a special message board established for each group. Experienced leaders are readily available to answer questions. Outlook offers accountability through reports that are submitted weekly such as the CR (Commitment Record) and weekly weight. At the beginning of each 13 week session, a self-paced assignment sheet is provided so members can focus on learning and understanding the First Place commitments. Participants have the option of following the featured First Place Bible study for that session or selecting any other First Place study."
