that I'm having trouble fining an answer to. I am not a leader and am barely a member of FIRST PLACE, trying to get started; again.:o
anyway, my question is: is there an age requirement? My 15 yr daughter is in desparate need of weight loss and we were/are trying to do something together. I was doing FIRST PLACE when we lived in WA, but now that we live in AZ, there seems to be limited access to group meetings.
I took Danielle (my daughter) to the doctor to get permission for WEIGHT WATCHERS and the doc classified her as "morbidly obese". Danielle started to cry!:( I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING TO HELP HER! Danielle is 5' 5" and weighs 264 & the doctor set her goal weight at 150. CAN DANIELLE PARTICIPATE IN FIRST PLACE? Is there a FIRST PLACE for teen girls? Should I start one??

Marlene,

I see no reason why your teenage daughter couldn't follow the First Place plan right along with you. It is well balanced and gets in all the food groups she would need. Just make sure she gets all the fruits, veggies, and milk that is called for. Don't cut her back too far on the calories, either. I would say at her age, she would need to have at least 1600 calories and possibly more if she exercises at all in gym class at school.

There is a program for children, but I really feel that a teenager would benefit from the adult plan. This will get her started on a lifestyle change that will benefit her the rest of her life.

Let us know how we can help you!

I see no reason for your daughter not to do first place. It's a great program that teaches a healthy way of eating. You may want to check into the youth/teen version- the bible study may be more appropriate for your daughter.

I would just ask her doctor the desired calorie level and then use the FP exchanges for that level.
