OT has a black or neon plastic gangster hats that would be great spy leader hats, 7.95 per dozen. OT also has hair attachments & wigs in neon colors to add to the disguise. The plastic spike braclets would be cool also.

I was out doing some garage sale hunting last weekend and found a black rain coat - really glossy with the high collar and everything.
I would put the theme out to your teachers and let them start working on their own costumes.

Hi,
besides tshirts, what else are you using for the kids to wear? Last year for SonTreasure island, the kids wore different color bandanas to separate them by groups. I like the idea of the black gangster hats for the leaders. I'm not to crazy about wearing coats as it will be blazing hot in August!

I don't have a budget for what the helpers will wear, so the youth helpers will wear their youth camp shirts (camp always comes 2 weeks before vbs and the shirts are solid colors) OR maybe fatigue shirts/jeans.(AND/or,a special badge,..ANYTHING to look like they are a rank(s) above the kids.) My main leaders may get a black hat with a Sonforce decal or pin on it,or military bars of some sort on the hat...and a badge.
I would like to have a "spy" guy (trench coat, etc) doing cameo appearances throughout vbs week...like an ongoing story. He will become a Sonforce Agent on the last day.(off goes the coat to reveal a Sonforce T-shirt!)
I'm wanting my helpers to look more like special training agents (kindof military-ish). Wristbands for the kids (in their group's color)...like you get for concerts. Each day they will get a Sonforce prize to emphasize moving up in rank. I may change my mind, but this is todays idea !!:D

I'm telling my helpers to "think black". I have them wearing black pants, t-shirts, and a black baseball hat. I found an inexpensive black flight suit that I'll wear with a black t-shirt underneath.

I found some black sunglassess (aviator style) at the 99 cent store.

Last year we made our own t-shirt iron-ons (half sheet). We gave out the kids version to kids pre-registered by a certain date. We made different volunteers iron-on too! Last year it had flying parrots all over and said “Trinity VBS volunteers have flown the coup!”

I was thinking about doing something similar this year. Black iron paper in more expensive, but would be cool. I also like the black shirt on the back of the craft book w/ boot prints. And there is The T-shirt Guy, if the volunteers are willing to pay for a shirt ($7-8). http://www.vbs.innovativeb2b.com/ For Kingdom of the Son we had we made a stencil then used the spay t-shirt paint. They would be good again this year.

I think we are going to go with black t'shirts and then have the SonForce clipart added to the shirt like a screen. I bought approns on ebay for the kitchen helpers I ordered black and received brown (my fault, I did not read the decriptions:)

We will be outfitting all of our teen helpers with "gadgets"-discarded cell phones, remotes made to look like Sonforce gadgets, etc.

How about checking out Goodwill or Salvation Army stores for hats, etc.?
