Could someone tell me if the Live It Plan has changed. I have the "old" one that came with a turquiose notebook that was available back in 1999. Then I ordered a newer one in 2001 that came in a hard plastic box with a handle. Has there been a change since then? In other words do I need a whole new kit to get started again?:)
Thanks for your help!

Hi, Cindy!
No, there have been no published changes since the one in the hard plastic box with a handle. You won't need a new kit! And...to answer your question from another message, First Place doesn't forbid all sugar now, but we are encouraged to limit our sugar intake. Sugar must not be in the first three ingredients on the label and there should be no more than 6 grams of sugar per serving. That gives us a little leeway. For many of us, though, we need to try to cut it out entirely as much as possible. It has an addictive effect on me...so I need to stay away from it!
Welcome back to First Place. I'm thankful your health problems are in God's hands and that you are back at work to lose weight. Let us know what we can do to help you.

Thanks Pat!
I am glad to be back and am looking forward to this journey. God is GOOD!
Where do you write the foods you might eat that has more than 6 grams of sugar? Do you just write it at the bottom like we used to do and not count it anywhere? Also, if you have this "slip up" do you still try to get in all of your other food groups for that day too?
Thanks for your help!

Cindy,
I tell my ladies to write the extra sugar (cake, cookies, ice cream, etc.) at the bottom and to still eat their healthy choices and NOT count those "empty" calorie items as a bread exchange.
Also, if you don't eat healthy at one meal, remind yourself to begin again at the next meal. The CR is a tool to help you see what you've eaten during the day.
Say you don't get in all your milk exchanges, then try the next day to get them in; or any exchange that you are not getting enough of--veggies and fruits and milk are the ones that my ladies typically don't get the minimum exchanges of each day. I encourage them to try to increase it each day.
I'm glad that you have decided to join First Place again. It's a great program.

I handle it the same way as Sherry. Just list the sugary food at the bottom as an "off program" item, but still eat all of your eligible exchanges. You want to be sure and gain the nutritional benefit of those eligible exchanges, and sugar items add no real nutrients to your diet. As the week goes by, if the person doesn't lose weight, he/she can look back to how many times "off program" foods might have contributed to that situation.

Thanks Sherry and Pat! That is the way I did it before and I wanted to be sure I am still on track. Who knows...I may be encouraged to get a group going again one day. Even though I had to quit leading I took away with me some wonderful eating habits and daily time with God. I have continued those two things with the exception of adding other things to eat too. During chemo there were days I couldn't eat the dairy but most everything else worked for me. All of the treatments and meds caused a weight gain-especially the drug that I had to take for 5 years. I can't imagine where I would have been without the "tools" of First Place. I know God has a plan for our lives and I know that He put me in to lead the First Place program so I would be as healthy and as strong as I could be to face the battle with cancer. I was strong in body from good food and good exercise and most importantly strong spiritually because I had established a daily time with Him. He pulled me through this time and carried me on the days I didn't feel like going. His word helped me to keep a positive mindset and I believed that all would be well. I am truly BLESSED! By the way, I started the first group in our church and during the first cycle my group lost 214 1/4 pounds! I know this because I came across the sheets when I was looking for all of my First Place materials the other day! Two more groups have started out of that group too! To God be the glory!
Thanks for your help and I look forward to staying in touch!
Cindy :)
