Hi everyone,
I joined First Place quite a number of months ago with a local group and for the first time in a long time am reading scripture and learning the word of God and I'm excited about that. But I was finding losing weight to be a slow process. I lost a few pounds and gained them back again and was feeling a bit discouraged about that and not sure why I was having such a hard time. I wondered what was missing. I knew that learning about Jesus was first and for most yet I also wanted to see changes in my weight as well.

Then, several weeks ago our trusted facilitator decided to share the responsibility of facilitating each week and we will now be taking turns going over the chapters. This week is my turn and I have to say that having this responsibility has greatly helped me to look deeply into the readings and the Bible. As I studied the information and read my Bible during the week I found out how much of a slacker I had been the previous weeks/months. Yes I had been reading the chapters and yes I read the scriptures and wrote down my answers and attempted to follow the 9 commitments as best I could but knowing I was going to facilitate this week and taking this opportunity to heart, I saw just how much I was missing by breezing through the weekly study with only half a heart. I am so very grateful to see how much I missed before hand and it has spurred me on to take each verse, each paragraph and really delve into them so the message becomes imprinted into the heart. I encourage everyone to read the material and read the scriptures with much enthusiasm and allow it to sink deeply in the heart each and every day. It has become a prayerful event for me to open my Bible and mediate and give thought to what God is saying to me. I will not take God's word or the First Place studies for granted anymore. And with that I also am sure I will see my life change for the better in all areas.

I am new at the online First Place. I am just checking in to see if I am at the right place. I was a FP leader about 6 years ago. I started the program at our church. About 9 months into the program I found out I had cancer. I have now made my 5 years, am finished with all surgeries, chemo and cancer drugs I had to take for 5 years. I am now ready to lose weight again. I am not interested in leading again right now so I hope to find some support here. I was wondering where FP stands on the sugar issue. They used to say NO SUGAR. Is that still the case? Thanks and I look forward to this journey with all of you.

I am new to this program; recently discovered Carole Lewis's book. Was thin and didn't worry about diet in youth, but that's not me today! I am 53 years old, my job is 100% sedentary, I've been through some severely stressful situations in my life, but don't feel they are controlling me any more. God has led me through many battle fields! But somehow, I have developed a bad sense of thinking of food as pleasure. I want hot buttered popcorn and chocolate frequently. I've read every nutrition and diet book under the sun, but I haven't actually done anything about any of it. There is no FP group near me, so online is my only option. I don't know if I am in the right place here. Do I understand it correctly, that if there is no group near me, this forem is for encouragement and support?

Godzkid!

You can find out all about the online group at this website: http://www.outlookministry.net/ That is the online program for those who can't locate a group near to their home. However, many of us at Outlook are members of church groups and online groups, too. It's a great place to get personal support while you try to follow the First Place program. Do sign up and let it help you!
