Hello, All,

I'm a total newbie, just saying hello, and also hoping to ask a question. Just got my starting kit today, and it looks awesome. It also looks a bit overwhelming. So, seeing how there is no group within miles of me, my question to you all is, where is the best place for me to start? What should I read first? How do I best go about beginning this journey?

Since I won't have a meeting, I'll be spending a lot of time on the forums looking to glean info from you all, especially those with some time under their belts using First Place, so I'm looking forward to your replies, and getting to know some of you better.

Peace,
Tom

Hi, Tom!
Welcome to First Place. We're so glad you've chosen this program. Yes, I know it seems overwhelming at first, but just take it one day at a time and let us help you. If there is no group near you, you might be interested in the support that is offered in the online groups. Check out this website: http://www.outlookministry.net/

Outlook Ministry is a great way to have daily support and get your questions answered quickly. There are group leaders who are there for you daily to help you unlock the Live-It plan and learn how to count your exchanges. This message board is a good place to bring questions, too, but the daily activity is not as high as the Outlook message board is. I enjoy the personal encouragement I get from my group members there. I attend a live group at my church, but I also participate online, and I really do enjoy it there.

Let me know what I can do to help you get started.

Sincerely,
Pat/TX

Hello, Pat,

Thank you for your reply. I actually joined an online group meeting at Outlook ministries beginning on Monday, and am looking forward to it. Am reading through the exchange lists now, and thinking about how to plan meals. I'm sure we'll be talking a lot over the next few months!!

Great, Tom! I'll look for you on the message boards. When you find out which group you are in, let me know! My group is starting its last month in this session, so I know you won't be in the same group I am. But all the groups are great! You can send me a private message there by going to your message center and addressing your message to Pat/TX. I'll look forward to seeing you on the message boards! You'll get lots of help there...and I'm still here to help if you need me.

Pat,

I'm in group I1 (or it may be l1), the lower case L and upper case I both look really similar to me!!!! I do look forward to corresponding with you more. I'm going to brave trying to log on to the message boards for the first time in a few minutes.

Hi, Tom! Hope you got logged in and found your way around the message boards. Don't be discouraged by the lack of men there! I think all they need is someone to lead the way. As I understand it, there are several who would like to join Outlook if they could have a men's group! Maybe you can be instrumental in getting one started!

I know you will be made to feel welcome there and that you will have a lot of encouragement and support to contribute to your group. You have some really good leaders in that group.

See ya there!

Hi Pat/TX,
I read your reply to Tom and checked out the link you posted for him and thought I'd found my answer to no meetings in our area.....until they wanted a registration fee. :(
Oh well, I'll keep looking for some help for us some where!

Marlene,
The registration fee is nominal compared to the ones that churches charge now. And it is well worth it. The Outlook groups are really good...and there is a lot of support and answers when you need them. Someone will get back to you the very same day on the message boards. There is always a contest of some sort going on to help get us motivated to exercise and keep our 9 commitments....and the fellowship and prayer support is phenomenol. Don't let the $18 bother you. It's worth every penny!
