Has anyone done the boat in bottle craft? I am having trouble making a boat out of foam --- it lays down when it floats! Help!!!

We used those foam marshmallows that you can buy at Michaels. We cut them in half and they fit perfectly in the bottle and would float on the top of the water and even sort of looked like a boat.

I think I bought the wrong product. I bought the foam things that looked like cheetos. They looked great when they were cut and really looked like a canoe, but the disentegrated!!!

The thing I used actually looks like a large marshmallow. I've seen them used to make s'more ornaments at Christmas, etc. They are white and I found them at Michael's craft store in the foam aisle. When they are cut in half they are flat on the top and rounded on the bottom and they float really well.
