Does Gospel Light have a skit each year with it's VBS theme?

Yes, they do. We're in the middle of VBS at our church, and the kids are loving the skits. There are also some Bible story skits that could be used every day, too.

Usually we play the skit DVD, but this year we did not have time to play it. We did not miss it, but it is a good thing to have just in case. I like having all the choices to pick from. I am never at a loss of things to do. I would prefer to have a skit DVD that plays out the bible stories!

We showed the video for years, then went live with the skit last year. The middle schoolers in the skit had every bit as much fun as the audience. In response to teacher concerns that the VBS attendees who are not regular church attendees do not know the day's Bible story until they have already done a craft, sung a song, and played a game or two about it, I'm switching to opening with the Bible story skit this year. All the kids will have a basic understanding of the day's Bible story as they go to the various activities. And the Bible story skits require fewer actors.

We will have the video of the theme skits to play during the snack for each class, if they want to watch it, or other activities from the theme book for them to do as they finish eating.

My in-house focus group tells me they much prefer the skits live.

I wish I could get a group together to act out the bible stories! That would be awesome!

We have done the skits every year except one, and we love them! It is one of our favorite parts.What I like about them is that they show how the daily theme applies to "real-life" situations - or situations the kids could imagine themselves in. Plus, they see grown-ups and/or teens having fun, acting goofy, being creative - they get to see how much fun it can be to serve the Lord! The skits this year were great - easy to do and really fun.
