Hi!,
I'm from a Baptist church in Southern Ontario, Canada. A little over a year ago I went to one of Mark's conferences and I was hooked! Fast forward a year with leadership changes etc I am excited to start this new venture of Faith at Home in our church of about 200. I would say we have two challenges. The first is that we are an older church that is made up of about 1/2 the congregation over the age of 50. The next challenge relates to the average age of the church which is the reluctance to change!
We are taking a slow approach. We are going to take the ideas from the Faith Begins at Home Resource book and go so I may be asking for ideas. We are going to offer Take it Home Events but we're going to take each topic we do and make it intergenerational. For instance if we did a Take if Home event for any given age group there would only 2-3 kids there. So....
We are going to have 3 events this coming year (Sept-June). The first one is going to do Prayer, the second will be Service Projects and the third session will be Technology/Media. We will have the same topics and divide into age groups. We are going to cancel Sunday School those dates and do Faith at Home events. We want to do it during church but we have many to 'buy in' first.
Please pray for us and I am open to ANY ideas and/or suggestions.
