We love simple snacks and almost always incorporate a "trail mix" bag into our VBS.
Usually we have Honey "O"s cereal, chocolate chips, pretzels, crispix cereal and raisins all mixed up and put in a ziploc snack size bag.
This year, I think I'll make a SMORES treat bag. Teddy Grahams, mini-marshmallows and chocolate chips. Mmmmm....

You could also just have choc Chip teddy grams! :) Sounds good though!!!!

that sounds good. Is the treat bag for them to eat there during snack time/ or for them to take home?

For our VBS it would be the snack at snack time.

Yes, we would do that at snack time also...but, they could take it home if they didn't finish it at snack time.
Another really good recipe regarding smores is by Pampered Chef. It's called Smore's Galore and baked in the oven, so you get a whole pan at a time. It's super easy and yummy yummy yummy. Also, less messy than having the kids make their own smores. If anyone is interested in the recipe, I'll track it down.

Thanks for the info on the Smore's Galore. I am going to try that out! A Google search for 'Pampered Chef recipe Smores Galore' has alot of hits. Gotta love the internet. :D

glad you could find it....another thing I do, is I store them sealed up in the fridge, I think they're awesome cold. Another good way to keep the mess at a minimum. When they are cold, they stay together really well, more like a cookie.

For the first time we will not have a "snack station", but rather send the snack in snackbags with the groups. We are expecting to save time, but even more to have a group bonding if they gather somewhere in between stations to have their snack.
Each child will get the snackbag into their backpacks with other material. We are planning to have a little backpack in the style of "sackpacks" for each child.

I just found a Keebler product that would work well for trail mix or for topping off a snack- Bug Bites Graham Crackers. They are bite size bugs, beetles, butterfly, caterpillar, dragonfly, etc.
