We would like to use some fun "camp-style" songs for things like snack time, assembly time and wherever else they might fit in.

One that we might use is The Adams Family Grace (obviously, to the tune of "The Adams Family")

We're thirsty and we're hungry
Want something in our tummy
The food looks mighty yummy
And so we thank the Lord.

na na na nah (snap fingers twice)
na na na nah (snap fingers twice)
na na na nah (sing three times)
(then snap fingers twice, say Amen)

Another we are looking at is The Beaver Song. (Not sure what GL is going to have for suggestions for group names, so we may change our minds on this one!), but we are thinking of using Group Names with animals (Bears, Raccoons, Owls...). Thought this song would be fun for Opening Assembly time or anytime the groups need to "gather".

"I'm a Beaver
You're a Beaver
We are Beavers all
And when we come to Camp SonRock
We do our Beaver call"
(make a noise/action like a Beaver)

substitute with other animal names

Would love to hear more song suggestions and ideas!!! :)

I just came across a song on Youtube today, looking for something else and this Christian Bug Song popped up. I will try to find a link. I thought it would be a good filler for this VBS theme, that's what made me check the boards! It's a real simple song, sounds kindof like "5 Iron Frenzy". Kids ask questions and the singer answers...when I do something wrong I'm a stink bug...when my friend hurts my feelings I'm a squash bug...God loves everybuggy, etc. I have a "Bugs in the Bible" unit on hand so I plan to use a lot of the bugs, bug puppets in this theme, so I think this song could work. I will try to post the site.

I'm planning to use a different song that tells the story of Peter & John healing the lame man. It's one I learned at camp when I was a kid. (Sorry GL, I just don't enjoy the way the SonRock version is sung and I don't think my kids will either.) I found a couple of versions of the song I'll be using on YouTube. Of course the message isn't quite the same, but it tells the story just fine and I can add the rest.

I've spent quite a lot of time at camp, so I'm sure that as I get further along in my planning, more songs will pop into my head :)

I have the plan to incorporate at least one or two know Christian songs that the kids will hear again in a worship service for example.

So far I wasn't sure if I just add them or if I replace a song.
Working through the VBS songs, I'm pretty sure that I'm replacing "In the name of Jesus" on day 5. The theme of going out with Jesus on your side is great, and it is nice for the last day.
I might do "Love the Lord your God with all your heart ... serve the Lord your God ..." instead. We did this song with kids before and you can easily even do motions to it.

Does anybody have the Son Treasure Island Songs CD from 1999 and 2000? They are our favorites. We have misplaced them and have not been able to find copies. Thanks!!!
