I tweaked the closing program offered by GL to fit our church. I thought I would post it here in case anyone else was interested in a little bit different program. It worked well for us, and my skit actors were thankful for fewer lines to learn after a busy week! One reason I did it this way is because my niece, who played Flora Rose, has a beautiful voice. When she sang "I Believe in Ever After" with the children, there were more than a few tears flowing!

Closing Program Skit Script
Children march in to music.

Leader: Welcome to the Closing Program of SonWorld Adventure Park! As you can see, our church has been transformed into a thrilling adventure park. Here at SonWorld Adventure Park, your children discovered the choices people from the Bible made when they encountered Jesus and how those choices changed their lives forever. Every day at SonWorld Adventure Park your children had the opportunity to make life-changing choices. Now we’d like to share with you about those choices and all the fun we had!

DUSTY, FLORA ROSE AND WILLIAM, and CAPTAIN come hurrying down the aisle:

All together: Wait! Wait for us! You can’t start without us!

Leader: What? Our animatronic characters are walking and talking to us?

Captain: Aye, now that our technology has been changed and updated, we can actually interact with our park guests, instead of just repeating the same phrase over and over and over

Everyone: And over!

Captain: Aye, mateys! (Turns to audience.) It’s so good to see you all here at SonWorld Adventure Park. I’m Captain Blackbird—but no worries, mates; I’m a good pirate.

Flora Rose: And I’m Princess Flora Rose and this is my froggy-woggy . . .

William: William’s the name.

Flora Rose: Isn’t he cute?

Dusty: Howdy, I’m Dusty Chaps. You can find me in Wild West World. Yeehaw!

Flora Rose: Oh no! Where’s Skip . . .

(Skip Truheart comes “flying” down the center isle with his wings expanded.)
Skip: (Yells.) And I’m SKIP TRUHEART! TO BOLDLY REACH FOR THE STARS . . . (Echoes.) Stars . . . stars!
(Jumps onto stage.)

Captain: So, you’re all probably anxious to know how ye wee park goers faired this week at SonWorld.

Flora Rose: There were so many choices to be made.

Skip: That’s right - we all made choices while we had our own adventure after park hours, but the children REALLY had the biggest adventure this week - learning amazing truths from the Bible. They learned that following Jesus is the ride of your life!

Everyone sings “Ride of Your Life.”

Captain: So, me mateys, what were some of those choices ye learned this week?

Child 1: On Day One we learned to Choose to Believe.

Child 2: The Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. 1 John 4:14-1.

Everyone sings “Choose Jesus.”

Dusty: Well, that was right nice! What else did y’all learn this week?

Child 3: On Day Two we learned to Choose to Act.

Child 4: “Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18.

Child 5: On Day Three we learned to Choose to Forgive.

Child 6: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

William: Sounds like you had a hopping good time this week! Anything else?

Child 7: On Day Four we leared to Choose to Obey.

Child 8: “I have considered my ways…I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands.” Psalm 119:59-60

Dusty: Now that there reminds me of a song!

Skip: Oh no! I mean, oh great! But Dusty, do you think you can remember all the words?

Dusty: Well how about I just play along on my guitar while the children sing?

Everyone: Good idea!

Song: “I Will Hasten”.

Flora Rose: What did you learn on the last day?

Child 9: On Friday we learned to Choose Jesus!

Child 10: Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.” Joshua 24:15

Captain: Now that reminds ME of a song too - one my Grandmammy taught me when I was but a wee lad.

William: It doesn’t have anything to do with teapots, does it?

Captain: No, no. Why don’t you mateys sing along with me?

Captain and children sing “The Captain’s Call”.
(Optional - more songs here **Add line from Skip: “Are there any other favorite songs you learned this week?”)

Flora Rose: It is exciting all of the wonderful things you learned this week from God’s Word! It’s exciting being a part of God’s family - the real kingdom. Fairy tales are nice, but the truth about knowing Jesus as your Savior is the best happily ever after there is. Animatronic figures and robots only last as long as their parts, but people are made to live forever - and God wants us to live forever with Him. We can do that if we choose Jesus!

Flora Rose and children sing “I Believe in Ever After”.

Dusty: We sure did enjoy having all of your children here with us at SonWorld Adventure Park. Now we want to show you a little more about what the week was like!

Show Video.

Closing
Leader or minister thanks parents for coming and invites them to learn more about God and His Son, Jesus, by attending other events of the church family Invite everyone to enjoy the refreshments (in the fellowship hall, on the lawn, etc.) and try to meet at least one other family they didn’t know before. Dismiss with a brief prayer of gratitude.

Hi,

we are a small international church in the Netherlands, going to have VBS beginning 28th July. I have been trying to figure out a nice closing program combining songs and skit characters but haven´t been able to get anything on paper. Your script and combination of songs, Bible verses & characters is excellent. Just something I was really looking for!!! We will use it with small modifications in songs! Thanks :)

Does anyone haave a closing without the characters. We do not have actors; so we use the DVD. Any help would be appreciated.

We didn't use the skits at all. We have people semi-dressed as park people. We had them hold signs each day for what we learned. For Friday there were all 5. We sang a few songs (including time to get the kids placed it takes longer then you'd think). We did drama this year and showed a few tablos the older classes learned. A missions report and a video slide show.

Make a list of everything that you want included, I bet it will fill the itme.
