We usually try to have a family night on the last night with our closing program and food and festivities. I try to tie it in with the theme. It works easier some years than others. Has anyone started thinking of how they will wrap up SonWorld? I wonder if we could find a ride or bounce house at a reasonable rate? Any ideas?

I am renting a mini-merry-go-round. It is a real find! I saw it set up outside a car dealership and called and got the name of the person who rents it. It is an independent person who rents it and moon bouncers out to corporate picnics, boy scouts, etc. He gave us a pkg. deal on the merry-go-round and a moon bouncer. He sets up and provides 2 volunteers and added insurance... $200 for one night. He's in eastern Iowa if anyone wants details. We are also doing a "fireworks display" that night. In the assembly time closing, we are giving all the kids light sticks and then use chaser lights to create some kind of fireworks show. We are giving out helium balloons that say "He Lives" on them. The hard part is making sure we don't take away from the learning time!

We always do the program the last evening of VBS. This year we are creating a kind of amusement park at our church for the program. It will open at 4pm and will remain open until 6:30pm. We will have amusement park kinds of food and there will be game and one bouncy toy. It is shaping up to be an amazing event. At 7pm we will have the kids share the program with everyone!

I am from eastern Iowa, Iowa City. With price of gas you could tack on about $1000 round trip for hauling a merry-go-round from Iowa to Ohio! :( Wonder if you did a search on line...under corproate entertainment, etc. if anything would cone up in your area? Also, years and years ago when we did Gospel Lights Wonderfaire, we worked with the local Shriners and they brought out a calliope for our final day celebration. Wonder if any organization like that might have something. I also have a lead on a doctor in our area who rents out what they call a "barrel train"- barrels converted to train, pulled by riding lawn mower. I saw a similar one at a fall festival in Webster County Iowa last year.
