Hi Everyone,

I have been directing our VBS for five years now, and have two questions about the medical release forms gospel light offers...do you use them, and if so, do you require EVERY line to be filled in--- insurance info, doctor's number and all?

Each VBS director has always made her own registration forms, and mine does include emergency contact info and allergy info, but I'm wondering if I really need the "official" medical form or if we can stay put. Our program has been growing, but that just means we averaged 105 kids a day last year.

Thanks for any feedback; I always learn so much from everyone here.

We live in a world that you as a director need to be protected and children need to be protected. This is my third year as director we to have grown in size and if you are doing VBS as outreach I would recommend you use an offical release form.:( It's just the way the world is now.

I agree with Theresa. We make our own form and we do require that all the info be filled out. It helps to try and get as many pre-registered as possible, so that they don't feel pushed for time as they are on the first day of VBS.

I also added the "parent/guardian signature" to the registration because we had some issue with day care homes bringing a vanload of kids and dropping them off for the morning, and it was unclear whether or not the parents were even aware that their children were receiving religious instruction and were not under the care and supervision of their paid day care provider. I'm glad to provide the "port in the storm" for kids who are not the regular attenders of our church, but I want their parents to know where they are and then, also, have the opportunity to reach out to invite and include those parents.
