This will be my first time as VBS director. :D What else do you all recommend that I need to order, in addition to the Super Starter Pack? Or is everything included with that?

Thanks!

Traci

Welcome, Traci, good to have you on board. The Super Starter Pack includes so much, you can easily do the whole VBS without purchasing another thing. What I would recommend is that you check out the catalogue for the extras like balloons, fridge magnets, etc that you may want to use as prizes or giveaways. If you want to use any of these it is good to order them EARLY as some of them do sell out.

Most churches buy more than just the Starter Kit or Super Starter Pack. It all depends on what you as the VBS Director wants to do and what your VBS budget can handle.

I do not usually order much more than the Super Starter Kit. I usually order some door hangers (because they have registration forms on them and they are good to hand out). Last year I ordered a coloring poster, we hung it up early in the summer and colored it during summer Sunday school. You will need prizes and crafts.

The other thing you might want is the video that shows the song movements.

In addition to the Super Starter kit, my church always buys lots of stickers--they can be used in so many ways (decorating craft projects, recording memory verses, etc.), and we always buy the student guides. It's worth it to have a resource that makes it easy for leaders to talk with kids about the point of the Bible story and how the Bible truth can make a difference in their lives. Our leaders are not trained teachers so any help we can give them is important.

This year I also bought the life sized character posters, lots of stickers, Daily Choice Tags, the large wall mural that the kids color, the decorating cutouts (thought they were a little small when I got them), and the Music book and DVD.

I usually get t-shirt transfers and photo frames, but this year we are doing something different. Last year when I did order the transfers and frames I didn't order the daily choice tags so I guess it all equals out.

I loved using the music dvd last year. I lost the group that always led songs and their motions were too difficult and had nothing to do with the songs. The SonForce DVD was great -- the kids picked up the motions the first night. We actually went through all the songs each night so at our closing on Sunday, they didn't need the words or motions -- they knew them so well!
