Last year, for SonForce, we made briefcases out of cereal boxes for all of the kids. They decorated them the first night, then we used them throughout the week to keep all of the week's crafts. The briefcase was then sent home with all of their "goodies" inside on the final night.

What sort of thing might work for this theme? I've thought about baskets, like at a farm... but I want a bunch of ideas to choose from. Any ideas?

That's a great idea for the first night. A few years ago, I made a treasure chest out of a shoe box for the Son Treasure Island theme. I'm thinking of may be doing a wagon out of a shoe box this year. I considered a sack that the kids could decorate too, but it's not as sturdy as a box. You could easily make baskets out of shoe boxes too....even fasten a handle to carry. Depending on your craft supplies, the kids could weave construction paper or ribbon to add some color.

We did the same thing with the brief cases. Baskets are good, or you could do some sort of pail, or small tote bags with farm related things painted on them.

Our preschool group has done tote bags the first night for the past couple years...they get the plain ones at Hobby Lobby or somewhere similiar and then use fabric paint and stamps using the theme to stamp them. They then send home crafts and/or papers every night in the tote bags.

Our teachers have used a variety of things including paper bags. Some items that perhaps will be used in songs throughout the week etc will be kept until the last day. In our elementary grades, the classes rotate throughout the church from snacks to crafts to music etc. The teachers carry a laundry basket to carry the crafts etc. Every morning each teacher drops off her blanket, cooler, and thermos in the kitchen. They will be filled and ready for them for snack time. I am ordering some brown bags for my piggy banks since I think they will roll too easily. I also use paper plates to have things carried on.
