Lindae, here's the beauty of it: you can tailor it to fit your needs! Because of the spaces we have available to use and the centers we choose to use, we will be mixing it up a bit from the suggestions. Make it fit what your VBS needs!

Hi, I have a question about the Imaginarium. From what I've been reading, it sounds very much like the crafts theme. Can someone please tell me how to not make it so "crafty"??? Also, does anyone have any ideas about how to distinguish the imaginarium from the crafts???

Hi Mrs. C--, nice to have you on board. I have the same problem you do--how to decorate a craft room that is so small and full of other stuff. I decided to put the decorations on the hallway wall, right outside the door. Otherwise, it gets lost among all the other stuff. Maybe that would work for your space.

The books suggest that the craft room is the western general store. the theme room is the Imaginarium (large art supplies). I am changing this a bit and making snack the general store and crafts the Imaginarium. We don't use the theme class in our rotation.

We don't use the theme center either but, my decorating people and I personally thought that the decorations for the imaginarium were a little weird anyways. But, an easy solution we came up with for the general store to really add in the craft element was to use really big plastic or glass jars (commercial pickle jars or those really big barrels of cheese balls) and use those for places to store some of the supplies that they'll need. We're also planning on doing a wooden fence along the walls out of cardboard and there was some talk about using hay bales for them to sit on but we probably won't do that (allergies, uncomfortable, etc.) Hope that helps someone!:) We decided to use the Coaster Planet theme for snacks and call it the Coaster Planet Café and for bible story room doing the Castle Carousel. We thought this fit better since the world is Storybook Kingdom~I think that is it I don't have my book with me now, whoops!

This is how I am leaning.
I will have the main assembly area in our Family Life Center decorated as Celebration Square with some of my own twists. That will also be used as our music center.
Crafts - Imaginarium
Bible Story - I think I am going to use the Castle Carousel. I have some ideas for really spicing it up and I think it will look cool and fit the center perfectly.
Snacks - I am going to have the Game Plank Midway. I have several carnival games I have made over the years (will post pictures later) that I will set up as a midway games area which will include a concession area (snacks) I am planning to give tickets for attendance, memorizing Bible Verses, Spirit, etc. They will be able to use these tickets in the midway to play games and win prizes. It will decorated as the Game Plank to include Pirate Scene Setters and my "Mr. McGroovy's" Pirate Ship.
I haven't decided to do the theme center as Coaster Planet or The General Store. I am leaning toward General Store, because it will be easier to decorate with "Scene Setters".
I will have a roller coaster prop as part of my celebration square set, as well as one in the back drop, not to mention my miniature coaster. There won't be a shortage of roller coaster themed decorations so I don't think I will feel bad if I don't have a Coaster Planet.

This is what I decided we would do:
Main Assembly Room- Celebration Square
Crafts- The Imaginarium
Snack Center- The General Store
Bible Games- The Game Plank
Recreation- Doubloon Lagoon (all those water games!)
Bible Story- Storybook Kingdom
Childcare- Castle Carousel
Music- Coaster Planet
Now, I just have to figure out what the kids' groups will be named and create the signs for them! :)
