UPDATE: Super Starter Pack and Starter Kit Changes for 2008

I am sure this is an oversight and will be corrected shortly by Gospel Light, but in the meantime I wouldn't order the Super Starter Pack.

I received mine yesterday and unlike last year or in the Son Harvest County Fair Kit, NOT included in my kit was the: Reproducible Music CD, the Skit DVD, and the Songbook/Music DVD.

I looked at the printed catalog I received with the kit and they are not included in the description either.

However, I did some calculating and basing the price of the life sized poster at 1/4 the price of the Poster kit, it is actually $6.09 cheaper to order the basic kit and the extra items individually.

:eek: That is SO disappointing! Have you checked the inventory sheet, usually included? I think those things should be included and you got a bad kit. Sounds like you are missing the Music & Skit Production Pack

I would think the Music & Skit Production Pack would include the music CD, the skit DVD, and the music DVD. I can only find a listing for the SFK kit "Contains SonForce Kids Songbook with Music Center Guide, Reproducible Music CD, Assemblies and Skits Production Guide, and The Asteroid Incident DVD." Everything you said was missing.

I am surprised the Music & Skit Production Pack isn't list on the GL store. I found this at another site.

We received a CD, but it says non-reproducible on it. It looks like one of the CD's you would get in the Student Music 10-pack.

My mother called me to complain that her kit was also missing items. In addition to the items mentioned above, didn't the SuperStarter Kit usually include one Large T-shirt? My mom and I were thinking that they did. I do hope that this issue is addressed soon - it was disappointing that the SuperStarter Kit was $5 more than last year and contains so much less.

I didn't get a chance to look all the way through mine yet, but I'm assuming it is the same. I live in Tulsa, OK and have been without power for 2 days now. When I come home from work it is hard to do much in the dark and the cold!!

There were changes made this year to the SonWorld Adventure Park Super Starter Pack. Any change to our products comes after looking at all the possibilities and options and then making a careful choice - keeping in mind our desire to provide the best possible products and to keep them affordable for a wide range of customers.

I am usually so impressed with GL products but am disappointed with the changes made to the kit. Am I to understand that we need to now purchase the dvd with the song motions? That really puts a strain on my budget. I hope GL will reconsider putting these items back in the super starter kit. They are the real reason I pay extra!

I called GL today and they were very helpful. I am still disappointed it does not include "Music & Skit Production Pack" like it is stated on the order page.

I do have to say that I really like the improvement to the Power Point slides on the clip-art CD. The music is included with the slides showing the words. Of course we usually show the Song DVD so we only need a TV and a DVD player.

I suspect they will post something on their website about it. I suppose we still need to purchase the Music Book and DVD extra, but all in all I think it is a pretty good resolution. The reproducible music CD is one of the biggest reasons, I use Gospel Light. I found out how important the music is living with a house full of kids that wear out their CD every year.

With this behind me, I am ready to get into the meat of planning for VBS. I have some fresh ideas that hopefully everyone can use.

Let's start a plannin!!

The Email I received says, "In the next couple of weeks every customer that has ordered the Super Starter from us will be receiving the Music CD and the Skit DVD at no additional cost." So I assume they are being sent automatically, however, it probably wouldn't hurt to call anyway, just to make sure you are on the list.

Houseparent is right, everyone who ordered a Super Starter Pack will receive a copy of the Reproducible CD and the Skit DVD. We should be getting the specially duplicated DVDs and CDs by December 28th and will start sending them out to everyone whose Super Starter Pack has already shipped. If your order has not shipped yet, they will be included in your Pack when you get it.

Thanks for your question. Super Starter Packs purchased through our Catholic partner Liguori should include the Reproducible CD and the Skit DVD. We caught the problem before these went out so they should all be fine.

I always buy the super starter kit for many reasons a few of them being the reproducable CD, and song and skit kits but also for the T-shirt which helps with publicity as our t-shirts are never here in time for the start of publicity.

There are things that were included that really area a waste in my mind - I have so many of those outreach booklets that I could wall paper our church with them. I'm really disapponted that changes where made withour making it clear to those purchasing the kits!

I also somehow ended up getting sent two super starter kits! Not sure how that happened.

My mom and dad have directed our Bible School for ten years this year and I have helped for the last several years :). We always purchase our materials from Gifts of Joy (local Parable Christian bookstore) I agree with CammieSue, Gospel Light should have made the changes clearer to everyone. Unlike some of the others on the board we did receive the reproducible music CD with our pack, however we have come to expect the Super Starter Pack to also include a large t-shirt (I still wear the old ones :D) and the myvbs.com subscription. I also agree with CammieSue that we have plenty of the "Growing as God's Child" and "God Loves You" booklets to wallpaper our church. I also feel there is no need to include a sample music CD (the non-reproducible one) since the pack already contains the full CD. Lastly, I feel that for the past three years the skit DVDs seem to be getting "cheesier". For example, the few changes in location, realness of surroundings, and in one of the shots this year it shows the studio lighting. I know that the point is to deliver a meaningful lesson, but the skits used to look more professional.

On a positive note, I do like that in the decorating part of the video Gospel Light shows using an island-like theme, a space like theme, and a game area... we can use some of the decorating ideas from the past! :) I also thought about bringing in several computers for kids to play RollerCoaster Tycoon on :cool:.

I'm just wondering what happened to the complimenary t-shirt that comes with the starter kit. We've used Gospel Light for the past 2 summers and I've alwasy gotten a shirt. I like it because as a director I stood out from the crowd with a different t-shirt (which all 200+ students and volunteers are requested to where on the last day). Just wondering....:(

Gospel Light took it out of their Super Starter Pack and Starter Kit this year for some reason. You can still order a shirt from Gospel Light separately that would be the t-shirt in the Super Starter Pack and Starter Kit if there was one.

I'll be making my own T-shirt with a cheap shirt I buy at Walmart. Just add the transfer that is in the kit, and I'll have a shirt that fits. Every one I have ever gotten was so big I couldn't wear it anyway.

Why was the music/step & motions DVD left out of the super starter kit?

I purchased my VBS kit from our local Christian Bookstore in March. It does not contain the reproducible Music Cd or the skit video.
I proceeded to order the mucis CD thru them b/c it was not in the kit which they seemed to be unaware of.
Where GL Canadian wholesalers provided with music and skit CD to go with the Super starter kits too?
Is there a number I should be calling to address this? I would still like to get the skit DVD and to add insult to injury, I have 3 songs on my (purchased separately) reproducible music CD that will not reproduct@!@!

I wish I had joined this forum sooner.
