I can't wait, just two more days until the release of SonWorld. At least if the website is correct. I hope it ships right away. I am already working on ideas and can't wait to see the materials.

I am so happy to see that! I had a company send me something a few weeks ago about previewing it, so I figured we must be getting close. I guess that's how we were getting to see the materials early before. We are having our first meeting soon and I had hoped the kit would be in first. I'm just ready to get my hands on the kit and get started!!!! Yeah!!!!

Oh, you have my hopes up now! If I get home and my starter kit isn't there I will be disappointed. I can't wait to begin as well!

This is my second year as VBS director and I have high hopes. Last year I became VBS director in April(!), after I had just joined the church a few months earlier. I had called the pastor to see what the dates were for VBS so I could take off work to teach, and found out that they had just decided that morning to cancel their VBS program because no one would step up to take the directorship. So, there I was with two months to do it. Thanks to a lot of help from my mother who is an 18 year GospelLight VBS veteran from a neighboring town, it happened. But, I am resolved this year that I am going to do as much as humanly possible BEFORE April!

I am also taking over my churches Sunday night Children's program and was wondering if anyone has had any experience using the 13-week literature that Gospellight produces that corresponds with the VBS theme? It seems like a great way to get some extra bang for your buck so to speak. Any stellar ways to tie-in these two programs that anyone could share?

This board has been a blessing to me - I am a financial statement auditor by trade so children's ministry can be a stretch - thanks for all the great ideas!

This year I just don't have time to even look at my VBS box before Christmas. I better start getting more cleaning and decorating done each day. Then maybe I'll have a little free time when it comes. I think last year someone said they looked at the kit for just a short time, then put it away until after Christmas. I know I wont be able to NOT open the box. Now hopefully my church secretary will call ASAP when it arrives.

BTW - Glad your back Houseparent, love the new avatar.

Mine was waiting for me at church this morning!!!! I was there for the children's pageant rehearsal. I left it at church so I would actually clean up before my husband came home after being on a business trip all week. But tomorrow afternoon after the pageant I am bringing it home!!!! I can't wait to start playing with the clipart and directors CD!!!

In response to Melanie's question about the other curriculum. I am in the middle of Journey with Jesus. We actually have extended each lesson for three weeks! The last week of the month is missions. This gives me a whole year's program! We really like it. It is very adaptable for all ages and my leaders love coming up with other ideas to really make the lesson stick. I am trying to decide which one to do next! I don't want to start the one that goes with Son World because I want VBS to be different.

Angie,
Gospel Light also has Treasure Seekers from SonTreasure Island and Agents in Action from SonForce Kids if you need something similar in the future. (I'm glad you're having success with Journey with Jesus.:D I looked at that curriculum and it looked great!) Here's links to them:
