Read Matthew 11:4-5
(vs.5) “The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.”
************************************************** ********
Jesus is not only a Miracle Worker, but also the only true Miracle Worker! Matthew says He makes the blind to see, the lame to walk, the deaf to hear and the dead brought back to life! With all these wondrous events in mind, we have to ask ourselves why are there so many overweight, sick, out-of-shape Christians? Have they not heard the Good News? Is their faith too weak and small? Are they fooling themselves into thinking they can indulge and bulge and not pay a price some day? Do they simply not care? Perhaps the answer is a little of each.

Now let’s read the passage again with a more modern-day approach and a direct application to the overeater. THE BLIND RECEIVE THEIR SIGHT. The fat person suddenly views food, God and themselves in an entirely new light. He sees his overeating for what it is, an act of sin. THE LAME WALK. The couch potato gets up and walks as a daily part of his new exercise routine. THE LEPERS ARE CLEANSED. The fat body and mind are purged of junk food containing too much fat, salt, sugar, and empty calories. THE DEAF HEAR. The fat ears, formerly clogged with satanic junk food messages, are now open to hear and obey the voice of God. THE DEAD ARE RAISED UP. The dead mind, having been buried in a fat mentality, comes alive with enthusiasm, energy, and a desire to meet the challenge. There is a new purpose for living and food is no longer the focus of ones existence. There is a desire to love, serve, and obey the Lord. Change is not only possible but also now a reality. The blessings flow in abundance and continue with every willful step of obedience. The more you are blessed, the more you want to be blessed, and God certainly does not withhold it from those who love and faithfully serve Him.

This passage of scripture ends by saying THE POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM. When in bondage to food, we are poor, poor in spirit and in health. But the Good News falling from the lips of the Precious Miracle Worker sets us free and gives us a life of riches, the kind that money cannot buy.
