As some of you may already know, our themes for VBS 2008 have been announced!
We are so excited to be offering two VBS options this year! Our BRAND NEW course is SonWorld Adventure Park, a theme park where kids make choices to believe, act, forgive, obey and choose Jesus.
We are also re-releasing (in print – not online) our bestselling SonHarvest County Fair as a Gospel Light Blue Ribbon Classic course. Please see the course descriptions below for more information. It’s never too early to start planning!
We will be posting more information and visuals soon!

SonWorld Adventure Park (Brand New!)
A visit to a theme park is a day of choices. The clickety-clack of a wooden coaster, or the speedy swoosh of tubular steel? The cool tartness of frozen lemonade, or the gooey richness of a giant cinnamon roll?
The choices we make in a theme park will determine the kind of day we’ll have. But the big and little choices we make every day will determine what kind of lives we’ll have, our relationships with those around us, and ultimately our relationship with God. And all that begins with our understanding of who is Jesus, and how will we choose to respond to Him? At SonWorld Adventure Park VBS, your kids will meet various people who encountered Jesus and discover how they responded to Him:
• A blind man was given sight by Jesus. Afterward, the man made the startling claim that Jesus is God’s promised Savior. Will your kids also Choose to BELIEVE?
• Ten men with leprosy were healed by Jesus. When your kids see people in need of God’s love, will they Choose to ACT?
• When a paralyzed man was first forgiven and then healed by Jesus, witnesses questioned Jesus’ right to forgive sin. Will your kids Choose FORGIVENESS?
• A rich young ruler met Jesus, seeking eternal life. When he learned what he needed to give up in order to obey Jesus, he walked away sadly. Will your kids Choose to OBEY?
• The disciple Thomas doubted his friends when they said that Jesus is alive. But when he saw Jesus, he believed. Will your kids also Choose JESUS?
At SonWorld Adventure Park, there’s no height requirement, the lines are short and everyone gets a good view of the parade. But hold on to your hats and glasses, because it’s sure to be a life-changing ride!

SonHarvest County Fair (Gospel Light Blue Ribbon Classic)
Growing the Fruit of the Spirit
The rooster’s crowing and it’s time to get crackin’! It’s fair time again and the farm is buzzing with excitement. From pie baking and craft making to cow milking and hog calling, SonHarvest County Fair has it all! Children of all ages will love the farming theme and down-to-earth fun as they get hands-on experience in growing, making and presenting their best. Through the examples of Jesus and His parables, children will grow a crop of love, sprout joy, plant peace, produce some patience and pick a bushel of kindness, too! They’ll learn that the best way to grow is to know Jesus as their Savior and to live as He wants them to live. You’ll be rewarded as you see the children who come to your church grow the fruit of the Spirit in their lives.
During their time in SonHarvest County, country kids and city slickers alike will try their hand at real-life farm activities like corn shucking, wheelbarrow racing, making berry preserves and sprouting seeds. Each day they’ll look forward to creating their own blue-ribbon arts and crafts, eating farm-fresh snacks and singing great songs. The last day of VBS, at the Grandstand Revue closing program, children will be excited to perform their favorite SonHarvest songs for family and friends and to show off their fair entries.
So polish your pumpkins, practice your hog calling and pick your sweetest peaches. It’s sure to be a blue-ribbon year at SonHarvest County Fair!

This year I was excited about some lessons from the Old Testament, but I'm really happy the focus has shifted back to Jesus for the new year. It sounds like such a fun way to present it too. Thanks, GL.

I agree with the focus being shifted back--that was the first thing I said when I saw this yesterday--I think it was a bit difficult for some of the children to relate this years theme back to Jesus--we made a timeline though in Bible Story from moses boy in a basket to the birth of Christ so the kids could see where it all goes together

I like the fact that Gospel Light does a variety of stories from the Bible. Our older kids have heard many of the stories and parables relating to Jesus over and over. And while it never hurts to hear these stories repeatedly they were very excited for a taste of something different this year. Our high school and junior high volunteer involvement also dramatically improved this year and I can only assume that the theme and bible stories chosen had something to do with it. Keep up the innovative thinking!!

Gospel Light VBS materials have changed the way we do VBS. I am very grateful that within the boby of Christ their are many talented individuals sharing their gifts to do His great work.
God provides and every lesson plan has been God inspired. Thanks GL for moving on that inspiration!

Ana,
I don't think Gospel Light has websites for SonWorld Adventure Park or SonHarvest County Fair.
I have to pick my VBS 2008 curriculum by July 30 and if they don't get their website up soon, I'll have to choose another curriculum.
God Bless,
Josh Trommer:rolleyes:

Christy,
When will SonWorld be available too ship? I want to work a prelude activity like under the Big Top into a Fall event. It would carry the theme great I think. We have never done a fall event just a Thanksgiving meal(Thenksgiving is a month earlier in Canada). I think this would be a great kick off to a yearly event!
Any clues on shipping?

The Starter Kit and Super Starter Pack usually ship the beginning of December. You could use the website (when it's up) for decoration ideas, etc. Right now my computer is not letting me see gospellightvbs.com but if you look underthe pre-order your Starter Kit, it might have the date.
God Bless,
Josh Trommer:rolleyes:

Hi Tammie,
Your plans for a kickoff event sound great. :)
Kits are scheduled to ship the first week of December.

Hmm...
At the top of the screen it says Gospel Light VBS Splash '08. Does that mean that water is a part of the theme park?

"Splash" in this case was a web site design reference to this being a "splash page". The title of this page will be updated shortly. Sorry for any confusion.

Tammie,
Gospel Light has given us no other information other than an Overview of SonWorld Adventure Park. If you want any other information, I would contact Gospel Light directly but I don't know how good of a response you'll get. Here's a link though to a catalog that has the overview of SonWorld Adventure Park that you could print and copy for your future volunteers.

The SonWorld Adventure Park Overview page is page 3.
I hope everything turns out alright on Sunday!:)
