“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your children may live.”
Deuteronomy 30:19

Life consists of never ending decisions and no matter how important or insignificant the decision may seem a consequence will result. Poor choices can lead to suffering and regret. Many lives have been led down the pathway of ruin simply by bad decisions. Why do we make such foolish mistakes? It can be from ignorance, impatience, selfishness or rebellion against God.

Decisions and their consequences began with Adam and Eve when they decided to disobey God. As a result, all of mankind continues to suffer the penalty of sin. So the consequences of our choices most often affect other people, sometimes people we don’t even know.

In the area of good health there are decisions to make. What you choose to put into your body as food and whether or not you exercise regularly will bless you or curse you. It doesn’t require the mind of a rocket scientist to know which is the wiser decision to make. Wrong choices will demand a price to be paid sooner or later. Don’t let Satan fool you into thinking there isn’t.

Country singer George Jones has battled alcoholism for most of his life and he sings about his struggles in a song he recorded called “Choices,” which include the following lyrics:
“I’ve had choices since the day that I was born
There were voices that told me right from wrong.
If I had listened I wouldn’t be here today
Living and dying with the choices I’ve made.”

Believers have only one Voice they need to hear, the voice of the Holy Spirit. When we listen and obey, heaven opens up to us with endless blessings. The consequence of disobedience is simply too great a price to pay. Make the best decisions for your health and you won’t have to pay the awful price of regret later on. Deuteronomy 30:20 says, “Choose to love the Lord your God and to obey Him, for He is your life and the length of your days.” (By Cheryll Smith)
