We are planning for future releases and we need your help.
We already have a list of features we need to roll out for this season but what do you want to see for next season?
Please give specifics on each request. For example, homepage customizations: I'd like to edit the sidebar.

Dan,
To be completely honest with you, I would scratch out MyVBS.com from Gospel Light's VBS and create something totally new. I know that this would be alot of work for Gospel Light but the way that MyVBS.com is setup now, it is not functional for all users, no matter what level of computer knowledge they have. I have heard many complaints about MyVBS.com and I agree with them. I think the main reason that many people have trouble with MyVBS.com is because of the program itself and format of the program. I'd love to see MyVBS.com more user friendly than it is right now. Another thing I'd like to add is, the release dates of the features on MyVBS.com. For the VBS Directors that use Gospel Light's VBS in the early summer, they can't use the resources that Gospel Light provides because their VBS is over by the time everything is available for that VBS year. Thanks for all you do. I just want Gospel Light to grow stronger in their curriculum and be able to provide customers with the proper resources for VBS.
God Bless,

I agree, Josh. I am not very computer literate at all and I have just given up using MyVBS. I used it last year and it was much easier. I'd love to have that resource, but it's just not worth all the hassles.

Dan,
I have sent a list and yet there seems to be no answers. Will there be any resolution to the problem for this year?
I would like to believe that Gospel Light would not let us down like this and it would be sad for people had to give up on this feature.
Who do we need to address this to to get resoution in the near future?

Dan,
I know you are doing the best you can. In the meantime people have invested in a program for this year that is not fuctional. There needs to be a place that we can take of this years issues. If that means going back the program set up last year until the bugs are worked out then then I am willing to do that. I do not mind giving input for future improvements. If this was a test situation then the use of it should have not been included in the cost of the package and we should have been made aware that we were assisiting in coming up with a viable product. This way those of us who have busy schedules would know how to better budget our times.

I understand. Last year's product was deemed unusable by more than half it's users, I'm actually surprised you did not have any difficulties.
If you have difficulties with this year's VBS sites please use the other thread you are already participating in.
Thank you.

Thanks Josh,
We have the At.My.VBS site that does not allow questions and we have this one and there is also a link to look at sites that have been updated. Lots of places to look.
Dan,
Will there be a printer freindly version this year? It would be helpful if we could have the age group down show the VBS roles, or add it near the top so it prints on the the first page and have the age group drop down show a "Other" selection. Volunteers in other sections like Crafts, Activities etc. do not fall under an age group for our VBS. This will also make for easier sorting of registrations and volunteer information once they are printed. When you print the form now there are two sheets and VBS roles are on the last page.
I noticed that once a User Name has been added there is no way to edit the name. Can that be changed? If someone goes with a short name to get started, there is no way to place the full name afterwards.

There is a link on May 9th of our calendar that shows "Welcome" when you place the cursor over it. This is the page I created that day. When you click on it shows an error code. What do I need to do to fix it?

Dan,
I think that for most users, myself included, it is very difficult to give you a list of what we would like to see upgraded when we can't get past this years problems.
I have completely stopped using myvbs, com, I have not advertised it and am disappointed.
So for next year user friendly is essential - especially for those of us who struggle with not being familar regarding web page design. Really speaking of myself here I need an idiot proof page and one that is very "edittable" so that when I do finally get it I can go back and fix all my mistakes.
I would like all the information at once and early so I can have that extra time to figure things out at a pace I am able to handle. I am sure that there others like me that can't devote huge amounts of time to this because we oversee lots of the other parts of the program too.
As for some of the other ideas I just don't know because I haven't seen the features added lately.
Thank you for caring enough to ask our opinion, please don't be too frustrated with our frustrations! We are all trying to make this work in our own way,

What would we like?
How about the song lyrics in a format that is sized to fit into a jewelcase so we can make a booklet to include with the CD's we send home with kids?
Could there be a listing of churches who purchase the curriculum so that we can contact neighbors to work together on fabulous decorations to pass around?
I know I'll think of more wishes.....

Janet-
To answer your first request, TrinityJen has made a SonForce Kids lyrics book for the CD's. Please e-mail me at josh1revolution (at) yahoo (dot) com and I'll send you the attachment.
The second request I've been working on as well. I'd love to see Gospel Light have some sort of Training Party for the Directors who use Gospel Light's VBS curriculum. During the Training Party, Directors could do sample crafts, snacks, and games and also network and gather ideas.
If you have any ideas for improvement of Gospel Light's VBS, I would encourage you to fill out the SonForce Kids Evaluation Form in the back of the Director's Guide. There might be an online Evaluation Form that will be put online later in the VBS season.

I agree with Tammie. I logged on to the site today and found users who registered and I have no way of contacting them. Even if I did I would not be able to edit the information. The information has been released already so I am hoping to counteract it. I have gone back to hard copy registations and will try to use the site for information purposes only. I am wondering now if we will be able to download the nice parent newletters onto the site for the parents that are on the Dirctor DVD. Nice idea ,only hope it is useful. I am letting the Lord have this fustration and praying that Gospel Light will do right by their clients. To date I have been very pleased with the Vacation Bible School programs offered. The plus for this one was the ability to use on line registration. I feel like I have wasted my Chapels money, not to mention, since we have a military affiliation, I feel like our nations money has not been well used this year. This may result in passing on a program from Gospel Light next year. Leting the Lord have that one too.

Hi Josh,
I am not sure what your status is. I appreciate your efforts for next year but I will echo what has already been said. What about this year? In my opinion this forum was suppose to be for what you suggest, networking ideas. It is also being used to air problems with the website however only to the end of fixing things for next year. Although I did not submit my request in writing last year, I had talked with techs last year about future improvements. It got worse instead of better so you can imagine my surprise at what is going on now. I feel like I have been sent on a wild goose chase. I need to spend my time now trying to make a way to adequately provide for registration without the use of a website based registration. It's not reliable.
Just praying on what to do next year...

Jackie,
I'm sorry that I don't have all the answers and I do think that Gospel Light has some mistakes in thier SonForce Kids VBS '007 curriculum but here's what I'm doing with my MyVBS.com webpage. Here's a link to it. http://vbsaddict.at.myvbs.com/ I have a Home page and an About page. Then on my Pre-Registration page I have a registration form that they will use to fill out and send to me in an e-mail. I have registration forms that I've adapted from Gospel Light and will write down their information on the paper registration forms.
If you're not going to use MyVBS.com, I would publicize in your church that pre-registration for SonForce Kids will be two week - a month before your program (whatever you choose) and have registration forms that parents can fill out. Another idea is you could do it on a laptop and just type all of the information into the Word document.
God Bless,
Josh Trommer:rolleyes:
