Has anyone mailed out anything about VBS yet? I was wondering what everyone else is mailing out. This is where I am not very creative.

So far I have included an invitation in the Sunday School newsletter. I do not usually do a mailing this early, but I want to get the word out early this year! I want a simple letter, to mail with my magnets. I am thinking of using the 'Direct Mail Flyer'. Last year that was the letter I sent out with registration forms in June. So what would I use then?

I thought I would have a small mailing, but have combined my VBS list, my Sunday School list and all new families. What I thought would be under 50 is now 80 families! We are planning on growing from 85 to 100 kids this year. Ugh! Only God knows what we are ready for. I didn't think we were ready for a 55 to 85 jump, but it was a blessing.

Jen,
Here are the things I have done so far. In our church newsletter: in March I did a "save the date" ad, in April I did a request for volunteers in May the newsletter will have an ad for the supplies we need (baby food jars, etc.) and one that talks about registration. Our sunday school kids will get a registration form in a manilla envelope marked Top Secret. I am thinking of putting in a coded message and decoder. There will be extras for anyone who wants to take them to friends, family, etc. Then I will send out an invitation postcard to kids who came last year, but aren't members. If you would like to see any of these things, I can send them to you. Hope this helps and is not too rambling.

I have placed something in each of our last 4 newsletters asking for volunteers and donations. This last newsletter I informed about registration and a program overview.

I also have registration forms and volunteer forms on the same tables with our bulletins.

I have placed things in the church newsletter and the Sunday school newsletter as well as in the weekly bulletin.

I am trying to figure out how big of a mailing to do now. Do I just send a teaser out to our kids? Or a full description letter like the 'Direct Mail Flyer'? To my BIG list or just kids I expect to attend?

I was wondering what everyone else was doing?

Thanks!

I am not doing any additional mailings. Our newsletter goes to active, occasional, and inactive members of our Church.

I will further promote the VBS with a sign in our parking lot that can be clearly seen from the street, through our public access cable chanel, happenings on our local CBS network, and announcement in the newspaper.

We don't have anybody additional that we would be able to reach through a direct mailing that we couldn't reach through our newsletter, and other methods of promotion.
