Hi,
Each year at VBS, we raise money for our mission project. We really get the kids excited when we make it a competition of boys againist the girls. As director, I represent the girls, and one of our assistant pastors represents the boys. The very first year, our pastor got a pie in the face, the next year I ate a live cricket, and last year our pastor was slimed! Does anyone have any ideas for our contest this year?
Blessings,

I don't know if this will help you but, I am again going to offer up my prized beard. We have a small VBS (about 30 kids), and last year I challenged them to raise $400 during the week and I would let my beard be shaved off during closing assembly.
They exceeded the goal by Thursday and ended up raising well over $500. Needless to say, my beard was gone. This year they have to raise $20 more than last year to see it go, but I haven't trimmed it since before Christmas and it should be about 4 inches long when VBS comes around. I would like to raise it higher and keep it (my beard), but it is great to see them get so excited and I don't want to crush their spirits.
When I first announced VBS this year, their first question was, "Are you going to shave your beard again this year?" I said, "That is up to y'all." They get real excited about it!!!!

Hi ! We also do an offering challenge with boys vs girls for the missions outreach. This year, I have put together a list of 20 things on clue cards they (the representing boy or girl) must accomplish in the least amount of time ..in order. They will start with clue #1 in a sealed envelope marked "top secret" which will be in another room far away for them to run back from. They will run around the main room where the children will be gathered so the children can watch. They will do jumping jacks, recite the 5 missions, give high 5's to certain agents ,build a simple puzzle, count objects, eat something sour ,etc. Once the clue is completed they will drop it in a " mission completed"box and get the next one from an "agent" holding the remaining clues. We haven't done a challenge like this one yet, so I think it has potential of being funny ! I hope !

Our pastor, youth pastor and hubby always have dinner on the roof as the kids are arriving when we reach a set amount of kids/offering and then we always offer someone to shave their head at a higher amount but we haven't ever had to do it. Maybe this year.
