I went to our local Dollar General for something, I don't even remember now, and in one aisle they were shuffling Christmas leftovers. I remarked about how they must be getting tired of moving that stuff. The mgr. told me it was all 90% off so I started searching for stuff to use for VBS. I found gold and silver textured door cover, perfect for the Command Center and table covers or robot costumes, etc. for 10 cents each, apples for Daniel, and for Queen Esther's banquet and whatever else. Glittery styrofoam balls to use for one of the games or crafts, stars, beaded garland, mylar shreds and star-shaped wire baskets. There were tree toppers that could be disassembled to make other things , tassesl, and BIG beads (for jewels or light-up buttons in the command center). WooHoo!!!!!

Then I went to our local implement dealership to pay a bill and found all sorts of reflectors for 10 cents, too-43 of 'em.

In all I spent less than $45 and have my 3x8 foot diningroom table covered! with craft and decorating supplies!!!!

Yesterday I found rope light at Hobby Lobby in assorted colors for $7.99 each (regular price), but I still havent found those blinking lights for t-shirts.

Praise God! What a blessing to find so many useful things CHEAP!

ha-ha! Only a VBS director can get that excited about left over Christmas junk!!! I'm right there with you-- I don't go out of my house that I don't see SOMETHING either in a store or in junk to throw out that I don't say, - "hey, I could use that!!!!!!" Congratulations on your treasure find!!!!!

I'm sure other people in the stores think I have lost my mind. ;) I know that my daughter did yesterday. I picked up something, turned it all different directions and studied it, trying to imagine what it COULD be. Her hubby is an artist and I know she has seen that look before, but she kind of freaked seeing it on MOM!;)

I love it! That's what I love about VBS, you get to think outside the box!

I'm with you! My 4 kids have started mocking me (in a good way) by looking at each other and saying all together: "Wait! I might need that for VBS!" whenever there is a box or possible craft item. Then they laugh and one will say, "Is there anything you DON'T need?" Michelle P

It's a good thing we moved into a bigger house!
