If something has 12 g of carbs in it would you count it as a serving?

Moobuny, I would need more information than that before I would feel comfortable determining how to count that food (i.e., how many exchanges). ;)

Like what? It's plain instant oatmeal.

When I count exchanges, I need to know the nutritional information (number of calories, number of fat grams, protein grams, carbohydrate grams) and the first several ingredients in order to best determine how many exchanges in the item being considered.

I regularly eat instant oatmeal, and the brand of instant oatmeal that I eat has 160 calories, 3 grams fat, 3 grams protein, and 33 grams of carbohydrates per packet. I eat the entire packet at breakfast, so I have calculated the exchanges as follows: 2 breads and 1/2 fat. Oatmeal is a grain, thus a bread. I add in the 1/2 exchange of fat because I see that it was some fat grams that normally aren't accounted for with a bread.

Since your brand of instant oatmeal has only 12 grams of carbohydrates, I can't use my brand's nutritional information as a guide to assist you in determining how many exchanges are in the amount of oatmeal you eat. So if you provide the nutritional information (as I indicated above), I can help you determine how many exchanges to count for your oatmeal.

Blessings!

Are you going to go over the beginning of the program? Could we do it together?
