I just got our Super Starter kit (which looks totally awesome by the way - fun theme, GL!!!), but I cannot find the motions to the songs in the back of the songbook - words only, no motions. Please tell me they are printed somewhere else this year. I don't know if I can teach the songs/motions without them!!! I rely on those every year - I put them on the music stand in front of me as a "cheat sheet". I have watched the DVD with the motions - and the motions are very cool, but I am worried about learning them without the papers. Suggestions???

Hey, I'm in the same boat! No printed motion chart is going to make it real hard to learn! The DVD is good, but sometimes the camera angles and the quick motions make it hard to follow. Guess its just going to take longer to figure it out. Otherwise, I'm having a great time digesting all the material. Went shopping today and gots lots of poster board, paper, neat window clings of the planets and space ships, etc. at Staples.

Oh.:( Now I get what those are for. I have those as well for my VBS but I never use them because we have a Music DVD as well. I think it's good to use both because sometimes the Music DVD isn't clear on motions plus you have to learn the motions ( if using the DVD) the opposite way so that the kids are doing it on the DVD so when you lead the songs the motions are in tune with the DVD. ( I show the DVD at VBS for the kids to learn the motions.) I'm sure someone will think of something. Just remember that that's one thing you can put in your evaluation of SonForce Kids. I'm glad you like everything else your seeing in the SonForce Kids Starter and Super Starter Packs!!!:)

Just got my kit--very disappointed about not having the motions in the book also--my music directors were very unhappy also--they like to have the motions in front of them while they teach--is there a way to get the motions printed for this year? If not could you PLEASE put them back next year?
thank you
God Bless

Ana, I agree, we should have the motions in print form. I have started working on the music, and I have taken the first song and watched the DVD many, many times trying to decipher the motions. They are very complicated and quick, so I am going to simplfy and make up some motions of my own and leave out a lot of what the DVD shows. The kids have such a short time to learn the music, they couldn't possibly learn all those moves. Its more important to learn the words than all those complicated movements. At least, that is my opinion.

I noticed a few of the songs use sign language (Jesus = touching 1 finger to each palm). That might be a place to find some pitures of the motions. Now to remember what song that was....

Yes, Trinity Jen, there are some basic signs that are shown, like "love", "strong", "Jesus", etc, and I will be using those. The "Jesus" sign is used in God's Kids and probably in all the others too. It is great music and we'll have fun with it.

Once I get through my Super Starter Pack, I'll create a description of the motions in comparison to the words in the songs. I hope this will help you and your music leaders.

Our music teachers are also missing the motion charts. They usually put them in front of them to teach the children the motions to the songs. If anyone out there has already created some kind of motion chart for the songs, please consider sharing it somehow. Thanks!

Chele, I haven't created any kind of chart but here's what I am doing for the "Strong and Courageous" song. I am going to make signs, one saying "strong" and one saying "courageous" so that each child will have a sign. When their word comes up in the song, they hold their sign high. We did this a couple years ago with the Kingdom of the Son music called "It is Written"--they held up a "no" sign during the chorus. They had lots of fun with it and really learned that song.

Darn, I sent my message too soon! I have one more idea--when we sing "Together in Harmony" I am just going to have every one hold hands. I think that symbolizes what the song is saying as well as lots of hard-to-remember motions. We will also just sing some of the songs without motions, with finger snapping and clapping. I'm just trying to keep it as simple as possible! Norma

A cool way to do some of the songs is in blacklight. Our puppet ministry uses blacklight puppets and signs to perform songs. If you don't have puppets, you can just use signs. We print large outlined letters on fluorescent paper; cut them out; rubber cement them to an 11"x16" piece of black foamboard; we stand behind a black curtain with blacklights attached to it; the room is dark; we dress completely in black and hold up different signs with the music. All the audience sees is the fluorescent signs dangling is mid-air. It looks really cool and the kids love it. The signs can be words, pictures, and/or symbols. It may sound difficult but it's really quite easy.
